How to change your Dominoblog Home Page without losing your mind

This morning I woke up in the mood to do some painting.
It reminded me that a couple of years ago, I moved my blog to the ESLUG site to run some tests.
Back then, it had the same design as my blog on Sidra400.com. But I’ve just changed it, and it took me about the same amount of time it takes to drink a coffee.
Here’s what I did. I copied over the same database I’ve been using to help the person who asked me for support (I mentioned it in my previous post). Then I copied and pasted the following elements into the ESLUG (NSF sidra400): The HTML Page Template The CSS The Block HTML Top Template A couple of Block Templates to display recent comments and tags.
Naturally, you also have to update the Home Page field in the Configuration document.
You’ll notice that when publishing a post, the author can now choose whether to include an image or not.
I also removed a few things, for example, if the post has comments or tags, but that’s entirely up to personal preference.
This change only affects the Home Page. The rest of the blog stays exactly the same.
So, what would happen if someone using the original design did the same thing ???
Well, their Home Page would end up filled with random bits of text from their posts.
Why ??? Because what I’m displaying on the Home Page is just the content of the description field from the main form used in this app (called CONTENT NOTES).
That form would need to be replaced with the one from the new database. It has two buttons, one to fill the description with just text, and another to include an image, again personal choice.
If someone tried this using the original blog, they’d need to edit the posts that appear on the Home Page so it looks like my example.
What I’d do is use the “Text only” button for all posts. Then, if you want to add an image later, you can easily do that.
Either way, if anyone’s worried about messing up their blog (which won’t happen, I promise 😂), just test everything first on a separate NSF.

Durante un año utilicé IBM WebSphere Portal Server, un gran producto pero volví a usar Lotus / Notes porque es lo que más gusta.
